Quick update
Joelle and I went with Honest, the man with the dislocated elbow today. We met him at the largest hospital in Moshi, KCMC. This hospital is like the other in that it is super busy, hard to navigate and does not rely on silly ideas like taking patients in order. So Joelle and I used our white skin to get him seen. We were told that we would need to come back on tue for the orthopedic clinic.
We asked Honest and his wife if they would meet us again at the hospital on tue at 8am. He said that 8 would be difficult because of the long walk there. Yes we found out that the man could no afford the $1 forty min ride to the hospital so instead he and his wife walked. They walked 15km to the hospital and we planning on walking back after they were seen. All without eating because food is expensive to buy from a restruant. So Joelle and I gave them $3 so that both of them could take a bus home and he could return by bus on tue morning. We also bought them lunch. Which for 4 of us to have rice, meat and greens cost $4.50.
I continue to be impressed with Honest. Although he continues to be amazed that we are willing and able to help him so much. They have 4 children aged 8,7,4 and 1. When we asked him what we could do to help him he said anything, especially anything to help his children like a mattress for the family, he never thought that we could possibally help get his arm fixed.
My work here is so rewarding……busy but rewarding. I will keep you updated after tue what the doctors say about his arm and surgery to relocate it.
